Fall Watermain Flushing in Plattsville Begins Sept. 22
Oxford County will begin its annual fall watermain flushing program in Plattsville starting Monday, September 22, 2025, running daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Flushing helps keep the drinking water system in good shape by pushing water at high speed through watermains and discharging it through hydrants and blow-offs, sediment and mineral build-up are washed away.
What Residents Should Know / What to Expect
-
You may notice discoloured water or sediment during or shortly after flushing. This is not unusual and is a temporary effect.
-
To reduce the chance of discoloured water entering your plumbing:
-
Before flushing begins, set aside water for cooking, drinking, and other essential uses.
-
Delay tasks that use water (laundry, dishwashing, etc.) until flushing in your area is complete.
-
-
After flushing in your area is complete, if your water is discoloured, run cold water taps (outside ones or laundry faucets work well) until the water clears.
-
If you still have discoloured water two hours after flushing, or if you notice low water pressure or no water, contact Oxford County Public Works:
