Council Highlights — July 2, 2025
At the July 2 Council meeting, Blandford-Blenheim Council approved a minor variance to support more flexible housing options in the rural community.
A new Additional Residential Unit (ARU) will be permitted in a detached accessory building on a local property, along with an increased separation distance from the main house. This decision supports creative housing solutions while maintaining the Township’s rural character.
Councillor Barnes also introduced a Notice of Motion to propose an update to the Township’s Flag Protocol Policy, including the potential installation of a third flagpole at the Township Office. This would allow for the Canadian and Ontario flags to be flown consistently, while a third flag could be used to recognize community achievements and special occasions.
Council passed several by-laws, including one appointing the Deputy Clerk to issue marriage licenses — helping provide more local service options.
