Parking in Blandford-Blenheim

The Township of Blandford-Blenheim regulates local parking through By-law 2185-2020, which outlines where and when you can park on Township roads and public property. These rules help ensure our roads remain safe, clear, and accessible for all.

General Parking Rules

Before parking your vehicle, always check for posted signs and be aware of the following regulations:

  • Park with the right-side wheels of your vehicle within 30 cm of the curb (if present), and never park on or over the curb

  • Do not park on sidewalks, boulevards, or grassy areas

  • Keep clear of driveways and laneways — blocking access is prohibited

  • Do not park:

    • Within 3 metres of a fire hydrant or water reservoir

    • Within 9 metres of an intersection

    • Within 15 metres of a railway crossing

    • In front of building entrances or loading zones

    • Alongside stopped or parked vehicles (double parking)

  • Accessible parking spaces require a valid permit to be displayed

Winter Parking Restrictions

Winter parking rules help ensure snow removal crews can clear roads safely and efficiently. From November 1 to March 31, the following restrictions apply:

  • Township Roads: No parking is permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

  • County Roads: No parking is permitted between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., daily

Vehicles in violation may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.

Long-Term & Unauthorized Parking

  • Parking on Township roads for longer than 48 hours is not permitted

  • Vehicles may not be left standing in municipal parking lots for more than 7 days

  • Commercial motor vehicles are not permitted in public parking lots at any time

  • Vehicles parked in a way that obstructs emergency access (e.g., fire station entrances) may be towed immediately

Parking Enforcement

Parking by-laws are enforced by Township By-law Enforcement Officers and the Ontario Provincial Police.

If your vehicle is found in violation:

  • You may receive a parking infraction notice

  • You may qualify for a discounted fine if paid within 14 days

  • If unpaid, fines may be submitted to the Ministry of Transportation, which can result in plate denial

Details on fine amounts and enforcement wording can be found in Schedule C of By-law 2185-2020.
