Residents Reminded to Keep Leaves and Yard Waste Off Roadways
As fall cleanup continues, the Township of Blandford-Blenheim is reminding residents that leaves and yard waste must not be raked, blown or deposited onto municipal roadways.
Leaves accumulating on roads can create slippery conditions for motorists and cyclists, obstruct drainage systems and catch basins, and pose safety hazards for pedestrians and other road users.
Under Section 2.6(c) of the Township's Land Clear By-law, as well as applicable provisions of the Highway Traffic Act, depositing leaves and yard waste onto roadways is prohibited. Residents who fail to comply may be subject to fines of up to $700.
Proper Disposal of Leaves and Yard Waste
Residents are encouraged to dispose of leaves, branches and other yard waste at the Township's designated collection depot:
Drumbo Public Works Yard
895957 Oxford Road 3 (at Township Road 8)
Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The depot is available to Township residents free of charge. Leaves and yard waste may be delivered loose or in appropriate paper yard waste bags.
The Township appreciates residents' cooperation in keeping municipal roads clear, safe and accessible throughout the fall season.
